California Employee Connect (CEC)

CEC is the new employee self-service portal available to all active Civil Service and California State University Employees. It is a secure self-service portal, which allows employees to view, print, and electronically save their own W-2s, direct-deposit earnings statements, and more.

What information do I need to register?

Step-by-Step Registration Tutorial

To register, please visit: Cal Employee Connect. You will need the following information from a single earnings statement (paper warrant/paystub or direct deposit advice) from 01/2017 through current:

  • Department or Campus Name
  • Agency Code
  • SSN
  • Date of Birth
  • Earnings Statement Number
  • Total Deductions

If you have a CSU PeopleSoft account, you will need to obtain the following information:

  • Your Campus/Department name: CSU, SAN DIEGO
  • Agency Code: 250
  • Social Security Number: XXX-XX-XXXX
  • Enter your Date of Birth: Month Day Year
  • Earnings Statement Number: (e.g. 09-855665) If you are using the View Paycheck feature in CSU PeopleSoft System this number is referred to as the Paycheck Number, please enter this number with a leading zero and in the format shown in Cal Employee Connect
  • Total Deductions: enter the total deductions from your pay stub. If using the View Paycheck feature in CSU PeopleSoft System, under the Paycheck Summary heading, add Total Taxes and Total Deductions together to get the deduction total needed for the verification.

Earnings Statements

There are two ways to view/download/print earnings statements:

  • Homepage will show the employee’s most recent three earning statements.
  • Earnings Tab will show the employee’s last 36 months of earnings statements.

Note: CEC will only show payments processed by the State Controller's Office Payroll System.


Employees can view/download/print copies of their last four years of their W-2s.
