Education Benefit
Tuition Reduction and Fee Waiver Program
Eligible SDSU employees may enroll in the Tuition Reduction and Fee Waiver Program. This program waives one California State University (CSU) application fee and tuition for up to 6 units or two classes per semester at any of the 23 CSU campuses as well as the reduction of certain mandatory fees. The waiver may also be transferred to an employee’s eligible dependent who is an enrolled matriculated student in a CSU program. This waiver only covers state-supported coursework, not Global Campus or Extended Studies programs. The majority of the CSU's degree programs are state-supported. However, when enrolling in a degree granting program at SDSU or any campus within the CSU, please confirm in advance that the program is not an extended education program (self-supported program), as such programs are not covered by the Fee Waiver. Program advisors and/or the office of the registrar should be able to confirm this information for you. For deadlines, forms, and in order to apply, visit our Fee Waiver Sharepoint Site (log-in required).
Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program
SDSU is a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. For more information, go to the Federal Student Aid website. Benefits Services will complete Section 3 and 4 to verify employment is with a public service organization. Forms must be submitted to [email protected]. When forms are sent to Benefits Services, please indicate the method in which you would like to receive your completed form (via email, in person, or mail). Completed forms will be returned to the employee based on the preference indicated.
It is the responsibility of the PSLF applicant to submit the application, and all required paperwork, to the U.S. Department of Education in order to qualify for the PSLF Program. The U.S. Department of Education, not the CSU, reviews the applications and makes the determination of eligibility for the PSLF Program.
